The Boulder CROP Hunger Walk
The Boulder County CROP Hunger Walk takes place every October as a part of a nationwide effort to raise funds to help alleviate hunger and poverty here in the United States and internationally. The walk has been raising funds since 1985 and works to support the grassroots, hunger-fighting development efforts of Church World Service (CWS) around the world. This walk also helps to fund hunger-fighting programs such as Community Food Share serving Boulder and Broomfield counties as well as Bread for the World.
Things to know about the 2020 modified walk:
Due to the COVID19 Pandemic, the 2020 walk will be modified meaning that walkers are encouraged to raise funds then with their own families, churches, or groups as they feel comfortable while follow recommended COVID19 guidelines for social distancing, masks etc. Walks can happen at any time during the week of October 18th, however, all walks must be completed by October 25th.
Collect money before the walk
Walkers will need to collect the money before the walk (instead of pledges). Raising funds online at the Church World Sevice CROP Boulder County CROP Hunger Walk site makes it easy while creating your own online account, and contacting friends and family to contribute. You can also raise cash or checks and give them to your recruiter to submit.
You are always welcome to donate food. However, due to the virtual nature of this modified walk, you are asked to contact Community Food Share or your local food pantry for ways to donate.
Sign your waiver
(Not applicable for 2020) In face to face walks, we need the signed waiver from every walker. Please note that minors should also have a guardian’s signature.
Return all Collection Envelopes
When using the collection envelopes for cash or checks contact your recruiter for instructions on how to return envelopes. They will then need to be turned in to the treasurer, Leslie Sutton.
How long is the walk?
In the past, there has been a 10k walk/run that most walkers complete in 2 and 2 1/2 hours. Many walks have a shorter loop for those who wish.
